Will hosta potted plant Ever Rule the World?

This beautiful and unusual plant is native to Chile. Now here is my favorite way to grow it. We have it in our yard as a hosta potted plant and it is very easy to grow.

There’s two main advantages to growing this plant. First, you get the most bang for your buck for not having to buy regular pots. Second, it is very easy to grow. It looks kind of like a small rose with a very thick stem. That makes it perfect for plants that like to grow in pots.

The first reason is very true. The second point is about the potting medium. Most potting mediums that you can buy just aren’t very thick, so you have to make your own. The best potting medium is a mix of fine sand, sawdust, peat moss, and a bit of vermiculite. You don’t want to use a potting medium that is too heavy, as your plant may not support it.

The third reason is that a lot of potting mediums are made of plastic. I can’t tell if this made it easier or harder for the plant to survive in the pot.

The only plastic potting medium I have used for my plants is the stuff that comes with a potting bag. If you are using a potting bag, you will need to pack your potting medium in. I have used potting bags that are made of polythene, polypropylene, nylon, polyethylene, polyethylene terephthalate, and polyethylene butyral.

Just like you can’t get plastic bottles of water with it, you can’t get potting medium with water in it. The only thing that does work is plastic bags made of polythene. If you use a polythene bag, you have to pack the potting medium in there.

I used a polythene bag for my first attempt at potting a plant. I was a little worried that the pot might start to rot before it dried up. But once I got the potting medium dry, the plant was ready to plant. And it certainly doesn’t look as good as the picture on the bottle. It also doesn’t look as cute as my ‘new’ potting plant. You can probably imagine how that looked.
